The PTA organizes a variety of fundraising activities to raise fund for classroom and school wide activities. Field trips, Battle of the Books, community service programs, music programs, assemblies, and a variety of other school programs and activities are all made possible through the fundraising efforts of the PTA. By supporting these efforts, you are helping to enrich every child's experience
at Thurston Elementary School.
ONGOING FUNDRAISERS
SAFEWAY/ALBERTSONS CLUB CARDS
Register your Safeway Club Card and Albertsons Preferred Savings Card and every time you use it, a percentage of your purchase goes to the school - it's that easy!
If you haven't registered yet, email your Safeway Club Card and Albertsons Preferred Savings Card numbers and phone number to April Uffens at apriluffens@ThurstonPTA.com.
CHEETAH APPAREL
If you haven't heard, this year the school's colors will be changing to red and black. This means all new shirts and sweatshirts will be on sale! The new design features an all new logo printing in black on red apparel. Watch for initial order forms to go home with the children shortly after school starts! POPCORN DAYS
Several Fridays throught the year, the PTA sells popcorn to the students for 25 cents a bag or a cobination of 12 Campbell's labels and Box Tops. Check out the Schedule of Events for the popcorn days scheduled for this year.
BOX TOPS
Box Tops for Education is a program that donates 10 cents for every box top mailed in by a school. Box Top coupons are found on the packaging for hundreds of products and all you have to do is clip the coupons and turn them into the school office. 10 cents doesn't sound like a lot, but the Box Tops program raises hundreds of dollars for the school every year! CAMPBELL'S LABELS
Campbell's Labels for Education is a program that provides points in exchange for the labels from participating Campbell's products. These points can be used to purchase items for the school. INK CARTRIDGE & CELL PHONE RECYCLING
Don't throw away your used ink catridges or old cell phones - turn them in to the school! We will recycle these items for you and earn money or products for the school. Just drop these items in the box located in the Community/PTA room next to the library and across from the office. MY COKE REWARDS PROGRAM
TES is now participating in the My Coke Rewards program that is an easy and FREE fundraiser. Throughout the year you can go to http://mycokerewards.com and register the codes found on participating Coke products with our school. In return we will be able to redeem those points for such items as art supplies, sports gear and educational resources.
SCRIP - GIFT CARDS
TES participates in the Great Lakes Scrip program. This program offers gift cards to hunreds of retailers, services and restaurants and the PTA receives a percentage of the gift card value ranging from 1% to 20%. Scrip orders are placed bi-monthly and order forms are sent home with the children. The order form will indicate the order deadline. If you loose your order form, click here to print a new one. MEMBERSHIP
When you sign up to join the PTA, $3 of your $12 membership fees go directly to our PTA. The other $9 goes to the national PTA organization which provides valuable resources to schools and communities nationwide. BUSINESS SPONSORSHIP
Several businesses in our community sponsor TES PTA. Their sponsorship of $50 to $100 a year go directly to school programs and activities and in return, businesses get advertising on this website and in our online monthly newsletter. SCHEDULED FUNDRAISERS
ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS SALE - September 14th - 28th
The Entertainment book sale is another important fundraiser that brings in thousands of dollars each year for the PTA. Entertainment books offer hundreds of valuable coupons for entertainment, travel, retail and restaurants.
SALLY FOSTER/SPUNKMEYER COOKIE DOUGH SALE - October 16th - November 2nd
The sales of the variety of gifts and gift wrap items offered in the Sally Foster catalog earn thousands of dollars for the PTA each year. Each classroom also earns a bonus based on the participation of the students in this fundraiser. These bonus funds are used by the teachers for field trips, classroom parties or whatever activity they choose to use the funds for!
This year, a variety of cookie dough will also be for sale through Sally Foster! Frozen cookie dough is a perfect thing to purchase and keep on hand for the holidays. Fresh baked cookies make a great gift or treat to serve or bring to a holiday party!
THURSTON ELEMENTARY COOKBOOK - Coming 2010/2011
Last year's cookbook was the first and it was a big success! The collection of over 100 recipes submitted by Thurston Elementary teachers, parents, students and family members were wonderful and made a fantastic cookbook. Because we have so many other great fundraisers planned already this year, we have decided to postpone the next cookbook to the 2010/2001 school year.
PAPA'S PIZZA NIGHTS - January 5th and April 20th
This year, we will schedule a few fundraising nights with Papa's Pizza on main street. All you have to do is have a night out with the family at Papa's Pizza on the nights we schedule and a portion of your pizza purchase will be donated to our PTA. These Papa's Pizza nights raise hundreds of dollars for the PTA.
You must bring the flyer that will be sent home with your kids with you for the school to get credit for your purchase! Look for the flyer to be sent home during the week prior to each Papa Pizza Night.
JOG-A-THON - June 4th
Last year we were unable to organize our yearly Jog-A-Thon because of the lack of a track, but this year's Jog-A-Thon is going to be very special because we will have a brand new track to go with our new school! The Jog-A-Thon is not only fun for everyone involved, but it also raises thousands of dollars for the PTA. Check back soon to find out when this year's Jog-A-Thon will be held.
FAMILY FUN NIGHT - May 7th
Family Fun Night is THE event of the year and this year's Family Fun Night is going to be one to remember! The PTA is very excited to organize this year's Family Fun Night in the new school! As plans develop, we will be posting more about this exciting event so check back throughout the year for updates.
